I received a B.A. in Art with Honors from Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall, Minnesota in 1974.

I am always fascinated when people first look at my paintings.  They always want to know how it is done.  Sometimes people worry too much about the technique of painting rather than the idea.  People also have a hard time putting my paintings in a category.  I think it is their way of having something in common to talk about.  But, I leave that to others.  I just tell them that I consider myself a primitive painter who paints because I have to paint.  Some may think that I live in my own little world and maybe they are correct.

Technique is important…just as knowing how to write which allows you to communicate to others is important…but it is only the means to express an idea, not an end in itself.  I never worry about rules…this allows one to try different ideas without preconceived restrictions on what you can and cannot do.

I enjoy living along the Gulf of Mexico.  There are many legends, tales, history and the blend of cultures to make life interesting.  These are the ideas that work their way into my paintings.  Every area that I have lived in has influenced what I painted.

Since I started college I have entered numerous art exhibitions and have sold paintings which are held in public and private institutions.  Some of the art exhibitions that I have been part of where my art work was exhibited and where my paintings were purchased for permanent collections and by private individuals are listed below:
