Doris Long Murrell rendered her first portrait in the fourth grade.  She has been hooked on "faces" ever sinces. Her realistic portraiture is combined with subjects of wild life, floral, and still life.

Her media of preference are oil and acrylics.  She has received Best of Show, Best of Professional,  numerous first and second place awards, and Best of Class in the 1998 Brazoria County Fair.  Attended art classes at Alvin Community College and Tyler Junior College.   She attended workshops with Ben Konis, John Pototschnik and Bob Rohm.  She also studies videos of well known artists such as Daniel E. Greene, Richard Schmid, Helen Van Wyk, Bob Rohm, David A. Leffel, and others.

Murrell is a member of the Brazosport Art League, The Portrait Society of America, and is a former member of the Tyler Art League.

She feels a portrait is a"commission of love," which will enrich a family for future generations.  Her paintings are in collections in Texas, other states, and Germany.

Commissions are accepted.  Enquiries are welcomed.
