Spring 2024 Kidz Art! Kidz Art meets Thursdays from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, beginning January 11 – May 9. Class will not meet March 14 or March 28. Ages: 8-13 Class limit: 16 students ART is FUN! This class teaches the 7 Elements of Art (line, color, shape, space, texture, value & form), creative expression with a variety of drawing and painting techniques (pencil, colored pencils, pen and ink, acrylic, watercolor, etc).

Lessons include a sketchbook assignment, featured artist or art history, focus and discovery. Instruction by art educator Linda Matheson.

The tuition is $75 per semester, which includes all supplies.

Teen Studio Time 1 - Spring 2024

Spring semester of Teen Studio Time will begin on January 9, 2024 and run weekly through May 7, 2024. Teens ages 13-18 are invited to join instructor Linda Strickland in Brazosport Art League Studio for Teen Studio Time. We offer tow class times for your scheduling convenience. Working individually as well as in groups, class will work in multiple mediums including: watercolor, oil and acrylic paint, pastels, stained glass mosaic, ink, pencil and charcoal drawing, clay, printmaking. We also have an impressive line-up of guest instructors with expertise in varying techniques and mediums that are excited to work with you. We finish our year with the Teen Studio Show in the Gallery May 7 - June 2, 2024. An artists reception will be held on May 10, 2024. $80 per semester, all supplies included. Includes BAL Junior membership. To register for Spring 2024, teens must purchase $10 BAL Junior membership BEFORE registering for class (IF you were enrolled in Fall 2023, your membership is still valid). Balance our for class fee is $70. Teen Studio 1 meets Tuesdays, 1:30 - 3:30 PM.

Local skywatchers are invited to observe the solar eclipse at BASF Planetarium from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Monday, April 8. This event is FREE and open to the public!
 
The eclipse will begin locally at 12:18 PM when the moon will first touch the sun’s edge. At 1:38 PM, viewers will experience the maximum eclipse when the moon will be closest to the center of the sun. The eclipse will conclude by 2:59 PM when the moon will leave the sun’s edge.
 
Eclipse glasses will be on sale for 2/$5 at the planetarium during the event. Please remember that it is never safe to look directly at the sun without specialized eye protection designed for solar viewing.
