Arsenic & Old Lace Auditions

February 25 & 26

7:00 p.m.

Freeport LNG Theater

THE PLAY: Eccentric sisters Abby and Martha Brewster are charming, charitable and a little old fashioned. Along with their nephew, Teddy — who thinks he is the 26th President of the United States— the pair welcome lonely, older gentlemen into their house as boarders. But as their newly engaged nephew, Mortimer, soon discovers, the house and the sisters hold secrets that threaten the peace of their quiet Brooklyn neighborhood.

Arsenic & Old Lace is one of the great classic comedy thrillers of American theatre. With a large cast of unusual characters, plenty of laughs and edge-of-your-seat suspense, it is no wonder that it remains a regional and community theatre favorite.

CAST NEEDS: Arsenic & Old Lace requires a large, diverse cast of male and female adults, able to convincingly play characters who range in age from 20s to 90+.(Scripted 11 men, 3 female.) All are welcome, including the inexperienced. Backstage technicians are also needed and may, along with the actors, complete an application during auditions on Feb 25 and 26 in the Freeport LNG Theater. Auditions will consist of “cold readings” from the script. A limited number of scripts will be available to checkout at the front desk of The Center (979.265.7661) during regular business hours.
