The Art League, with its 170 members and artists, showcases internationally recognized artists as well as regional and local talent in ten annual shows in The Center’s Gallery. Satellite galleries, with rotating exhibits, are also found throughout the community. League members meet regularly for workshops, demonstrations, and life drawing classes. Children are also inspired and encouraged through workshops, classes, competitions and scholarships.

Classes and Workshops

All classes and workshops take place in the Brazosport Art League Studio located at The Center for the Arts & Sciences.


Open Studio • Mondays & Wednesdays • 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. All art league members are welcome. Bring your supplied and create art with friends.

Evening Open Studio • Mondays • 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
An opportunity for members to learn from each other while working on their own projects in varied media. These fun & casual sessions are very helpful for beginners, and everyone 18 and older is welcome. Come three times as a guest; membership required thereafter. Information: Norma Robuck,

Life Drawing • 1st & 3rd Wednesdays • 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Teen Studio Time •  Wednesdays • 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.                                                                                          We will meet every Wednesday, 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. in the Art League Studio. Cost is $60 per semester. All supplies included. We will study Art Techniques with a myriad of instructors and mediums including acrylic painting, watercolors, pastels, clay, pen and ink, pencil, stained glass mosaic, jewelry/metal work, and 3-D art. Ages 13-18. Saturday Art Class

Mixed Media Abstract • Line Work with Cindy Grandjean • Aug. 18 • 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

This is a fun mixed media class to explore us of a cruciform composition to create and abstract design using water based mediums.  Bring your own supplies or $10 supply fee to use instructor’s supplies.  Class is for absolute beginners on up.

All Saturday Art Classes are $15 members, $25 non-members.  Sign-up sheet, and supply list will be on the Studio bulletin board.

Intermediate Drawing • Instructed by Judy Vera • Aug. 18 • 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Smash Glass  • July 19 • 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

A new class done in the Paint-n-Sip style. Arrange colorful glass pieces on a canvas and we’ll pour the resin.  No glue, no grout, no skills needed.  All supplies included along with appetizers and bottled water.  Feel free to bring your favorite beverage.  Art will be ready for pick up in 24 hours.  $40 for 8 x 10 and $50 for 11 x 14.  To register, call Linda Strickland 979-201-8258 or on Facebook:  Linda Strickland Art.

Art Scape!

“Plein Aire” — it’s French meaning “open air.”  If you love to paint or draw in plein aire, this is for you.  If you’ve NEVER painted in plein aire, now is the time.  Join us at varying locations in our area.  Bring:  Chair, hat/visor, sunglasses, camera, water to drink, towel. Travel light with art supplies: one or two brushes, small (travel) palette, drawing pad, pencil, eraser. Here’s the best part. No need to sign up, no commitment necessary, no big travel itinerary, no fees, open to the public.
