BISD Seniors’ Scholarship Show

The Art League, with its 170 members and artists, showcases internationally recognized artists as well as regional and local talent in ten annual shows in The Center’s Gallery. Satellite galleries, with rotating exhibits, are also found throughout the community. League members meet regularly for workshops, demonstrations, and life drawing classes. Children are also inspired and encouraged through workshops, classes, competitions and scholarships.

Classes and Workshops

All classes and workshops take place in the Brazosport Art League Studio located at The Center for the Arts & Sciences.

Open Studio • Mondays & Wednesdays • 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. All art league members are welcome. Bring your supplied and create art with friends.Evening Open Studio • Mondays • 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
An opportunity for members to learn from each other while working on their own projects in varied media. These fun & casual sessions are very helpful for beginners, and everyone 18 and older is welcome. Come three times as a guest; membership required thereafter. Life Drawing • 1st & 3rd Wednesdays • 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Teen Studio Time •  Wednesdays • 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.                                      We will meet every Wednesday, 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. in the Art League Studio. Cost is $60 per semester. All supplies included. We will study Art Techniques with a myriad of instructors and mediums including acrylic painting, watercolors, pastels, clay, pen and ink, pencil, stained glass mosaic, jewelry/metal work, and 3-D art. Ages 13-18. Beginners Italic Calligraphy

Create Beautiful Lettering in this one hour class.  You will learn the basics of beautiful writing with the Italic hand for those special moments in your life.

Reflections and Shadows in Watercolor

May 4 & 5

Join instructor Laurie Humble in this Intermediate class as she teaches how to make your work come alive with realistic color filled shadows and beautiful reflections using vibrant color and rich darks. Watercolors don’t have to be pale. Add interest to your work by increasing contrast.  In this exciting workshop you will learn techniques you can use to add interest to shadows and shadowed areas and to make reflective surfaces really appear to shine! Specific exercises will be taught to help you learn to infuse exaggerated or even imagined color into these subjects for a stronger impact. Laurie’s stress-free teaching style provides a fun and relaxed atmosphere with lots of individual attention.

Art Tales • Third Thursdays • 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. • BAL Studio.

Join us every Third Thursday at 2:00 p.m., as we discuss films that explore the life and work of artists.


Smash Glass 

Arrange colorful glass pieces on a canvas and then pour on resin. No glue, no grout, no skills needed. Art will be ready for pick up in 24 hours. Appetizers and bottled water provided. There is a class fee and a supply fee determined by the size of your piece.

$30 class fee plus $10 basic supply fee (added at check-out).
Please bring cash, check or credit card to upsize your supplies when you arrive. Your choices are:
8×10 – Included in class fee
11×14 – additional $15
12×24 – additional $30
