President’s Message
Hope to see everyone at the meeting.
We will complete plans for Jamboree.

CALL TO ORDER: The March 6, 2007 meeting of the Sea Shell Searchers was called to order by Vice-President Wanda Coker.  Members were
welcomed.  
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Cliff Harris and Dave Barziza made motion and seconded to approve February minutes as mailed out in the newsletter.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Patty Humbird reported a balance. 
COMMITTEE REPORTS: 
1.

Field Trips: Darwin Alder – Quintana get-together is February 17 turned out very well.  A Mardi Gras parade came through the park
and members went out to catch beads.  Dean Harris and Tina Petway presented a program for the Save our Beach Association called
“Shells and Shelling” at Surfside City Hall.
A field trip to Port Aransas was proposed for April or May.   A possible picnic at San Louis Pass in October was suggested. 
Janey Nill reported a very successful field trip personal field trip the next day after the field trip.
3.
Hospitality: Freida White thanked the many members who brought food. Wanda Coker thanked Freida & Harold White for making
table preparations each month prior to meetings and cleanup afterward.
4.
Historian: Irene Norris – No report
5.
Exhibits: Dean Harris – No report.
6.
Auction: Wayne Humbird – the auction will be held at Jamboree May 07, will take donations.  Specimen shells are needed.
7.
Programs: Wanda Coker – no report
OLD BUSINESS:
1.
Jamboree Update given by Wanda Coker & Patty Humbird.  $50.00 fee will cover all meals.
Applications went out by mail and copies were made and handed out at the meeting.
2.
Bob & Betty Lipe will be guest speakers and Judges for the Single Specimen Shell Show.
3.
Dealers will be allowed and 6 foot tables are available for $10.00 each.  Notify Patty Humbird if you want a sale table.
4.
SeaSpace will be held March 31-April 1.
NEW BUSINESS
1.
Rusti Stover presented a choice of three designs for the Goodie bags.  The club voted on the designs to be used.
2.
Nominating Committee – Patty Humbird, Leslie Crnkovic and Lori Sipple will present the slate of officers in April to be voted on in
May.
3.
This coming year will be our 30th Anniversary and Lori Sipple volunteered to chair the committee 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
1.
Brazoria County Fair in October, see Wayne Humbird if interested
2.
2007 COA in Convention – Portland, Oregon, August 1-5
3.
2008 COA Convention – San Antonio, Texas, July 6-10 at the Crown Plaza Hotel.  Wanda asked for volunteers to help with the COA
committees 
4.
The next issue of the Conchologist will have the registration form for COA.
5.
Rusti Stover will be presenting Peter Dance’s new book at the April meeting and Janey Nill is the Sales Rep for Texas.
ADJOURNMENT:  Meeting was adjourned.
PROGRAM: Patty and Wayne Humbird presented a slide show on the St. Petersburg Shell Club Shell Show.  Individuals brought favorite shells
for “Show and Tell” after the slide show.
