President’s Message
At the February meeting we will be report
on our plans for the Jamboree to be held in
May.
Hope to see everyone at the meeting. The
McCuistons will give a program on American
Samoa.

CALL TO ORDER: The January 2, 2007 meeting of the Sea Shell Searchers was called to order by President Steven Coker. Members were
welcomed and guests introduced. 
SECRETARY’S REPORT: November minutes were approved as mailed out in the newsletter.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Patty Humbird reported a balance.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: 
1.
Newsletter: Patty Humbird – needs to know if you are not getting the newsletter
2.
Field Trips: Darwin Alder – February 17, Quintana get together
3.
Hospitality: Freida White – Wanda will bring drinks for February
4.
Historian: Irene Norris – No report.
5.
Exhibits: Dean Harris – no report.
6.
Auction: Wayne Humbird – the auction will be postponed until Jamboree May 07. Wayne will take donations and he asked for more
specimen shells and “Oh My’s”.
7.
Programs: Wanda Coker – American Samoa for February
8.
Shell Show – Will be held May, 2008.
OLD BUSINESS:
Jamboree Committee:  Wanda reported the Jamboree will be held at the Center Friday, May 4th thru Sunday, May 6th.  On Friday
the programs will begin in the Little Theater at 1:00 pm, followed by a silent Auction and other programs.  We will be meeting at
the Sea Center at 6:00 to 6:30 for a short program and a Chicken and Beef Fajita Dinner in front of the aquariums.  On Saturday
there will be more programs, silent auction and a Sandwich style Lunch.  The Live Auction will be on Saturday afternoon followed
by an evening meal of Bar-B-Q.  Sunday morning there will be a field trip to Quintana with Brunch.  
There will be a Single Shell Show with the Yellow Rose Award.  
Cost is $50.00 if paid by April 28 and $55.00 after that.  La Quinta is the Hotel of choice for reservations.
NEW BUSINESS:
The club has been asked to make a presentation at the Surfside City Hall on shells on February 17th.  Wanda and Dean volunteered
to do the program.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
1.
The 2007 COA Convention will be in Portland Oregon August 1-5, 2007.  Go to conchologistofamerica.org for further information.
2.
The 2008 COA Convention will be held in San Antonio, July 6-10.
3.
Cliff and Dean will hopefully be going to Panama and invited other members to join them.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion made by Rusti Stover and seconded by Frank Petway to adjourn. Motion passed.
PROGRAM:  A wonderful and chilling program was given by Dave and Nancy Barziza on Antartica.
