CALL TO ORDER: The September 5, 2006 meeting of the Sea Shell Searchers was called to order by president Steven Coker.
Members were welcomed back for the new shelling year and the president introduced the new officers for 2006-07:
President: Steven Coker
Vice President: Wanda Coker
Treasurer: Patty Humbird
Recording Secretary: Janey Nill
Corresponding Secretary: Dean Harris
Dean Woodard thanked the Cokers and Humbirds for their long-term hard work with the shell club.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Minutes were approved as sent out in the newsletter.
Freida made motion to accept minutes as mailed and Rusty seconded. Motion passed.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Patty Humbird passed the task of reporting the Treasure’s Report to her “assistant” Wayne Humbird who
reported that from September 1, 2005 to September 1, 2006, the club brought in $3,172.85 and expenditures were $2,308.71, with
a gain of $865.14.
We had two shell shows this past year spending $2,675.80 with earnings of $1,446.00.  The loss of $1,229.80 didn’t show up in the
2006 Treasures report, since down payment for the facilities was made before Sept 1.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: 
1.
Newsletter: Patty Humbird – As you are paying your dues be sure she has your correct address and email address.  It was
suggested to check your Spam folder if your newsletter is missing.
2.
Field Trips: Darwin Alder – no report.
3.
Hospitality: Freida White – Will pass around food list next month
4.
Historian: Irene Norris – Needs list of winners of Shell Show, names should be on the Internet site by next month.
5.
Exhibits: Dean Harris – no report.
6.
Auction: Wayne Humbird – The auction will not be held in September due to the Jamboree being held in May 4-5, 2007. 
Donations are being accepted for the Jamboree.  Suggestion was made that the club rent a storage room for the auction
items due to lack of space in members homes.  President asked for a report on cost of storage space for next meeting.
7.
Programs: Wanda Coker – Rusty Stover will do the program on Sands of the World and Sand Collecting for October and the
Barzizas will do a “Travelogue” at a future meeting including North Pole, South Pole, Amazon, etc.
8.
Shell Show: Wanda Coker, Patty Humbird – no report.
9.
Museum Project:  Janey Nill – no report.
OLD BUSINESS 
None
NEW BUSINESS
      1.   President asked all committee chairs to estimate budget needs and turn them in to him by next month.
2.
Texas Shellers’ Jamboree – Wanda presented a slide show presentation on the Jamboree, which will be hosted by Sea Shell
Searchers in May, 2007.  A discussion followed.
3.
Membership – 2006-07 dues were due at September meeting.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
1.
Brazoria County Fair in October; see Wayne Humbird if interested, he has a few cases left.  Setup is October 7 and the
Fair stars October 13-21. 
2.
Wayne presented Plaque from the museum to Dean Woodard for 10 years of Volunteer Service.
3.
Historian requested a picture be made of the new officers.
4.
Rusti announced information about the Houston Gem and Mineral Show at the Humble Civic Center on September 22-24,
2006.
5.
Joey announced he lost 2 teeth.
6.
The question was asked:  How long has the Shell Club been Active.  There was some discussion as to what the actual answer
was.
The final answer after checking:  It will be 30 years next year.  
      7.   Wanda announced that Pat Lang passed away last month and a card was signed.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion made by Cliff Harris and seconded by Wayne Humbird to adjourn. Motion passed.
PROGRAM: COA slide show and information by Wanda Coker.  
DOOR PRIZES: Were donated and won by several members.
