The Facts features Copeland’s appointment to TFA board

Wesley Copeland, executive director of Brazosport Fine Arts Council and the Center for the Arts and Sciences, was named to the board of directors for the Texans for the Arts in late July. The statewide organization’s mission is non-partisan arts legislative advocacy and the development of resources for the arts and culture industries.

The Facts features Brazosport Center Stages’ volunteer appreciation event

Brazosport Center Stages had much to celebrate at the organization’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Night on Saturday, August 5 here at The Center. The Facts featured the event in today’s (8/9) edition, “Volunteers of the year feted during Brazosport Center for the Arts and Sciences 80th birthday: Denis, Judi James receive Lifetime Achievement Award from theater group”.

A celebration of longtime supporters and volunteers Judi and Denis James took center stage during the evening, which also saw performances by scholarship recipients Maddie Gore & Olivia Smith and the actors & mentors from this year’s Penguin Project production, The Wizard of Oz, as well as several cast members from the illness-shortened run of summer musical, The Sound of Music.

Final week of Summer at The Center art camp featured in The Facts

Brazosport Art League wrapped up the second and final week of Summer at The Center art camp last Friday, which was featured in The Facts today (7/19) in “Colorful Creations with Kids at The Center: Camp allows kids to test their skills at variety of art”. A reporter snapped photos of student artists in grades 4 through 6 working in the studio and visited with campers and BAL instructors.

The Facts publishes online photo gallery of Shark Week exhibit opening

Brazosport Museum of Natural Science’s Shark Week events wrapped up on Sunday afternoon (7/16) with a presentation by Dr. Richard Fugler and a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of a new shark exhibit in the museum. The local oral surgeon and outdoor enthusiast talked about growing up in the area and his lifelong fascination with all fish sporting sharp teeth. His donation of dozens of shark jaws are featured in a new exhibit in the museum.

The Facts features artist Cynthia Grandjean’s solo exhibit in Brazosport Art League gallery

Artist Cynthia Grandjean opened her solo exhibit in Brazosport Art League gallery a week ago on July 5 and is featured in today’s (7/12) edition of The Facts in “Mystery and Simplicity at the Center: New art exhibit on display at the Brazosport Art Gallery”!

“The Sound of Music” receives front page coverage in The Facts

Brazosport Center Stages’ production of “The Sound of Music” opens this Friday after months of rehearsals and runs July 7-9 & 13-16! The Facts published a front page story about the summer musical in today’s (7/6) edition, “Center Stages comes alive with music: Expansive cast, crew bring classic musical to life at Center Stages”, featuring photos from a recent rehearsal and interviews with director Craig Fritz and actors Alaina Perez and Devon Smith, in the roles of Maria and Captain von Trapp, respectively.

Summer at The Center music theater camp featured in The Facts

The second week of Brazosport Center Stages’ music theater camp is coming to a close this afternoon, but the ever-popular, annual Summer at The Center program is highlighted in today’s (6/30) edition of The Facts, in “Flies Be Gone: Workshop production is child’s play”! The story features a few photos of the campers in rehearsals this week, as well as interviews with directors Becky Gore-LaRoche and Hope Shiver.

The kids will be putting on “How the West Was Fun” this afternoon at 1:00 PM in the Dow Arena Theater for their family and friends.
