About

The Center for the Arts & Sciences is the cultural home for an entire community of approximately 340,000 people. Established in 1976 as a result of the visioning and commitment of the region’s industrial and civic leadership, The Center has become a shining example of what is extraordinary about living and working in this unique location on the upper Texas Gulf Coast.

Owned and operated by the Brazosport Fine Arts Council, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, The Center provides performance & exhibit space and administrative support to our partner groups and programs, including Brazosport Art League, Brazosport Center Stages community theater, Brazosport Museum of Natural Science, BASF Planetarium and Brazosport Symphony Orchestra.

Most of the various activities are volunteer-driven with a modest-size staff to manage the daily challenges of running a multi-use cultural facility. Every actor, director, painter, teacher, naturalist, astronomer and archaeologist is a volunteer. The Center for the Arts and Sciences is an authentic community collaboration where ideas are encouraged, talents are nurtured and opportunities for discovery are provided to every visitor and volunteer.

Our Mission

Our mission is to spark the imaginations of residents of Brazoria County and our visitors through high-quality and enriching art, science, theater and music programs.

We are committed to inspiring our community through exceptional cultural and educational experiences by providing opportunities to participate in our arts & sciences programs.
