Education

Education is at the heart of Brazosport Art League. Exhibits are chosen and curated with the goal of growing an appreciation of art and local artists. Workshops and classes are designed to appeal to the beginner and experienced artist, from all age ranges.

We are always looking for art teachers! If you are interested in teaching workshops or weekly art classes with the Brazosport Art League, please reach out to the BAL Education Manager Dorothy Dean via email.

Adult Workshops & Classes

WORKSHOPS OPEN FOR REGISTRATION:

Three-Week Mixed Media Workshop with instructor Dana Moody Stevens • Tuesdays, June 16, 23 & 30 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM • Registration is $100 and includes all supplies & instruction • Classes meet in the BAL studio • REGISTER NOW!

Art Classes for Kids & Teens

Teen Studio Time

***STAY TUNED FOR INFORMATION ABOUT FALL 2026 TEEN STUDIO TIME!***

Teens ages 13 – 18 are invited to join us on Tuesdays from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM in Brazosport Art League studio for the weekly Teen Studio Time! (Please note: we are only offering ONE session of Teen Studio Time this semester.)

We have an impressive line-up of guest instructors with expertise in varying techniques and mediums who will be teaching the class this year. Students will explore a variety of mediums and techniques ranging from classical to experimental applications of: oil, acrylic, pastel, printmaking, collage, and clay. They will be exposed to new and old artists, fields of study, and professions.

To celebrate course completion, students take part in a gallery show at the end of the spring where they can display their work and even sell it!

Age: 13 – 18

Class Size: Up to 16

When: Tuesdays from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM in the Brazosport Art League studio for 16 weeks

Cost: $160 for the semester; requires an annual BAL junior membership ($10)

An annual Brazosport Art League membership is REQUIRED to register for Teen Studio Time. Purchase your $10 membership now!

Kids Studio Time

***STAY TUNED FOR INFORMATION ABOUT FALL 2026 KIDS STUDIO TIME!***

In Kids Studio Time, students investigate a wide range of media and techniques as they engage in the art-making process of creating two-dimensional works, which may include drawing, painting, printmaking, and/or collage.

We offer two class times for your scheduling convenience. Both classes are the same and run for 16 weeks.

Instructor: Dorothy Dean

Age: 7 – 12

Class Size: Up to 16 per session

When: Thursdays from 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM (Session 1) and 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Session 2) in the Brazosport Art League studio

Cost: $160 per semester

Children’s Art Camp

Session I • June 8 – 12
1st – 3rd grade • 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

4th – 6th grade • 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Session II • July 6 – 10

1st – 3rd grade • 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

4th – 6th grade • 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Class Fee: $75 BAL Members, $100 Non–BAL Members

7th – 9th grade • 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Students should bring a sack lunch each day.

Class Fee: $100 BAL Members; $125 Non-BAL Members

*Students must be entering the grades listed in the fall.

*Attendees may sign up for only one session of art camp
