ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Having grown up in a “crafty family”, Linda Strickland began her journey as an artist after attending her first watercolor class in 1997. Since then, she has studied under many accomplished watercolorists and confirmed her love of loose, drippy paint in color-filled, slightly-unfinished paintings.

Linda loves painting nature and painting in nature, especially from her front porch overlooking the bayou, and is active in the local Plein Aires art group. She has dabbled in all kinds of painting on all types of surfaces, with a foray into oils most recently.

Of her craft, Linda says, “Painting and creating is my attempt to express the beauty and awe of God’s creation…in all its simplicity and complexity.”

Barry Bradley’s love of fine woodworking has been developing for more than 40 years. After retiring from teaching construction trades to the Hill Country, his love for creating with local Texas woods developed into fine craft. His recent move to the Texas Gulf Coast has inspired him to focus on an array of coastal themes.

One of Barry’s true loves is building and restoring wooden boats. He has built from scratch numerous canoes and kayaks from various woods and completed restorations of several antique wooden boats and canoes of all lengths and designs.

Barry has been in the retail end of woodworking, creating mostly sculptural art pieces & furnishings, for more than 20 years. His latest goals include spending more time on individual pieces with more of an artistic & sculptural design and a coastal flair.

Tickets to the gallery are free. To help us record visitor demographics, please register in The Center lobby when you arrive or pre-register online. Hours of operation are 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday, and 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Sunday.
