BASF Planetarium’s March programming focuses on upcoming solar eclipse

For the second time in six months, area residents will experience a partial solar eclipse and BASF Planetarium volunteers are working to educate the public about what eclipses are, what to expect and how to protect their eyes for the big event on April 8.

Throughout March, the planetarium will be showing Total Eclipse of the Sun on Tuesdays (3/5, 12, 19, 26) and the 4th Friday (3/22) at 7:00 PM in the planetarium. An all-Spanish version of the show is planned for Wednesday, April 3 at 7:00 PM.

Other upcoming events include:

  • Brazosport Astronomy Club monthly meeting, March 9 at 2:00 PM
  • How to Use Your Telescope Workshop, March 16 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
  • Spring Astronomy Night, March 16 from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Family-friendly Saturday programming:
    • Star & Space Story Time at 12:30 PM
    • Planetarium shows at 1:00 PM

ALSO, mark your calendars now and make plans to join us on Monday, April 8 for the solar eclipse! Purchase 2 pairs of eclipse-safe glasses at the planetarium for $5.
