2/17 UPDATE:

Brazosport Symphony Orchestra has canceled the “Christmas in February” concert scheduled for Saturday, February 20 due to Brazosport College’s temporary closure.

Center staff will be working with BSO leadership to remedy ticketing concerns. We will reach out to ticket holders directly once utilities are restored and staff can safely return to Center business offices. Thank you for your patience as we navigate challenges that are beyond our control.

Brazosport Symphony Orchestra announces revised spring schedule

Brazosport Symphony Orchestra has been busy planning, pivoting and re-planning the spring season and will be returning to The Clarion with “Christmas in February” on Saturday, February 20, 2021! Those with existing reservations for the Christmas concert will be contacted by the Center, in the order reservations were placed, to reserve seats at The Clarion.

Once the existing reservations have been filled, any remaining seats will be released for sale to the general public.  BSO will follow Brazosport College’s guidelines for social distancing and masking, and additional details regarding these requirements will be shared in the near future.

Please note that those who had reserved seats for the 2019-2020 season at The Clarion most likely will NOT be able to sit in the same seats this spring.  Rest assured that your information from last season is still on record and your old reservations will still be in place when social distancing requirements are lifted.

Please make note of the Spring 2021 concert dates below (January and May concert dates have changed):

February 20, 2021 “Christmas in February” – It may be unconventional to recognize St. Valentine one weekend and St. Nicholas the next, but these are unconventional times. (Be sure to wear your ugly Christmas sweater or holiday attire!) Buy Tickets Now!

March 27, 2021 “Bach at the Clarion” – It’s good to be Bach!

May 15, 2021 “Young Artists Concert” – Several winners of the 2020 Whit Phillips Memorial Young Artist Competition, along with the winning piece from the 2020-2021 BSO Composition Contest.

The Clarion has a new air treatment system complete with an ultraviolet light process, social distancing guidelines and enhanced cleaning protocols in place. All performers and attendees will be required to complete Brazosport College’s online COVID-19 Health Screening Questionnaire before each rehearsal and concert. All concert attendees will be required to wear masks AT ALL TIMES while inside The Clarion. College-provided ushers and security personnel will enforce this rule and address any compliance issues that may arise. Brazosport College shares our commitment to health and safety, and we feel confident that we can safely return to The Clarion.

Thank you for your continued support and flexibility.

Paula Matzke – BSO Council President

Set Builders

Once it is built, it is time to add detail and color to the set. Set painters of various talent and experience levels can contribute to this fun and satisfying task. Novices can apply basic “base coats” of paint while more accomplished artists can follow behind add the detail (color, texture, shadow and highlight). Bring the set to vibrant life by volunteering as a set painter!

Set Builders

During the time a Center Stages play is in production, set builders work on Saturdays (usually 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM) and, occasionally, during some weekdays, as volunteer availability allows. Volunteers should have a background in safe construction practices, including using various types of power tools. Though not necessary, set construction volunteers are encouraged to bring and use their own well-maintained and safe power tools. Wood is usually the most typical construction material, though occasionally other materials, such as metal, are used.
