Meet our *NEW* volunteer coordinator, Mallory Bell!

Hello!

Let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Mallory Bell and I am the new Volunteer Coordinator at The Center for Arts and Sciences. I have experience with being a volunteer myself for many different organizations and also coordinating volunteers for several local non-profit organizations, so I believe a have a good grasp of both sides! It brings me joy to see a need and to fill it! Plugging volunteers into areas that they are interested in and then seeing them thrive is very fulfilling for me!

I have lived in the area since elementary school so this is definitely home to me! I have been married to my husband, Robert, for almost fifteen years. We have a son, Rory, and a daughter, Lilah, who are both in junior high school. Our family has enjoyed all the things The Center has to offer, from Planetarium shows to art workshops to Penguin Project plays. My daughter’s current favorite is the Symphony concerts because she is just starting out on the viola and my son’s favorite are the fluorescent minerals in the Museum! I think it’s so important that there’s something for everyone of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities. It truly does not feel like “work” here, I get to hang out in our amazing spaces with cool volunteers all the time!

Having a diverse group of people coming together to support The Center has been a very impactful experience for me. I love that people are utilizing their skills and practice to enhance our community in various ways. The Center truly is a special place and I’m so happy to be here!

Having a volunteer list of over four hundred people may seem daunting to some, but I’m up for the challenge! Some of my goals are to grow that list even more while also maintaining a positive experience for our veteran volunteers. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into The Center. I’m looking forward to fostering collaborative relationships and supporting you in all the ways that I can.

With that being said, one of my first tasks is to make sure we are up to date on all paperwork and procedures. There are background checks that have expired or are close to it. Some volunteers have not completed one. I invite you to please reach out to me if you have concerns regarding background checks. We are in this together and want everyone to be safe! I am also working on updates to the Volunteer Handbook so I will be getting those to you all soon.

I would really like to be able to meet all of you and to be able to put faces to the names that I see on the sign-in sheets! Please join us in the lobby of The Center for Meet Mallory Monday on Monday, August 19 from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM for an informal but fun time of hanging out!

Thank you, Mallory Bell
