When COVID-19 forced most people into isolation in 2020, a group of local artists found a way to continue to connect with each other and still create art. The Plein Aires group began meeting monthly in outdoor settings to allow for both social distancing and collaboration. They gathered in parks, at the local wildlife refuge and local beaches, and on private property when invited.
The need for social distancing may have gone away, but the group continues to meet on the second Monday morning of each month to appreciate the great outdoors and paint, sketch, doodle, shoot photos or just enjoy each other’s company.
The Facts published a feature in the weekend edition (6/21/25), “Artists gather to capture moments, scenes from nature and communities”, including photos from the group’s June gathering in downtown Lake Jackson. Read the story and see photos at The Facts online!
