Before the decision was made to cancel the final day and a half of Brazosport Center Stages’ drama camp last week (due to a COVID spike amongst campers), a reporter from The Facts came out to take a few photos and interview participants. The story, featuring Week 2 of BCS’ Summer at the Center drama workshops, was published in today’s (8/3/22) issue.
Longtime volunteers and brand new theater-loving kids are featured on the front page of today’s (6/30) issue of The Facts. The article includes interviews with instructors Hope Shiver and Becky Gore-LaRoche, who have been leading Brazosport Center Stages’ Summer at The Center music theater workshops for nearly three decades together.
The duo explains how they utilize flexible productions to fit the number of participants and the varying number of boy and girls who participate each summer, as well as their philosophy about giving every child a “starring role” on stage.

Performance spaces were dark and quiet for the last year due to COVID-19, so it was BIG news for Brazosport Center Stages to welcome close to 150 kids back to Summer at The Center in June and July! We kicked off the summer with the two-week Gerrard Teen Guild Workshop in early June, followed by two one-week Music Theater camps in late June. Two weeks of Drama Camp in late July wrapped up a fantastic summer for the theater-loving kids and teens in our community.
