Children's Music Workshop

Musical Theater Workshop
Children ages 7 to 12
$135 Non–BCS Members • $120 BCS Members
June 19 through June 23 • 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
June 26 through June 30 • 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

A fun–filled week of singing, acting, choreography & theater art for 7 (before the start of the workshop) to 12 years old. A complete musical production will be presented by the children on the final afternoon of each workshop week. Students must be able to read. Students bring a sack lunch & drink each day. Cost includes a Summer at the Center bag. Class size limited to 40.

 


Children's Theater WorkshopDrama Workshop
Children ages 7 to 15

July 17 through July 22 • 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
July 24 through July 29 • 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
A six day total theater experience for 7-15 year old’s culminating with a performance by the children on Saturday. In six days children will audition, learn lines, blocking and backstage etiquette as they rehearse this year’s production. Children should bring a sack lunch & drink each day. Cost includes a Summer at the Center Bag. Class size limited to 35.

 


Teen GuildGerrard Teen Guild
Children ages 12-18
$175 Members & Non-members
ONE SESSION ONLY- June 5 through June 17 • 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Students, 12–18 years old, have the option to participate in an intensive two weeks of drama workshop culminating in a performance. Teens audition, build the set & costumes, gather and make props, learn theatrical make–up, hang lights, and learn both choreography and a part to perform on stage. Students bring jacket, 3-ring binder, a sack lunch & drink and wear work clothes and closed-toe shoes each day. Cost includes a Summer at the Center bag. Class size limited to 40.

Center Stages Scholarship Opportunities

Brazosport Center Stages is proud to support local high school seniors continue their interest in Drama, Dance, Technical Theater, or Vocal/Instrumental Music while seeking higher education. Center Stages awards up to 5 $1000 scholarships each year to eligible seniors who demonstrate both exceptional talent in the performing arts and excellence in scholastic achievement.

BCS CHILDREN’S WORKSHOP HELPER JOB DESCRIPTION

Hey, teens!

If you are a high school student active in theatre and would like to assist the instructors during Summer Workshop sessions, please print out the application below, complete the form, and return it to The Center (Attn: Terri Martin) or mail to Terri Martin at 122 Juniper Street, Lake Jackson, TX 77566 by May 4, 2016.

Summer Workshop Helper Form 2017

All-Day Helpers: Two assistants will be hired for each workshop, to work from 9:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M.
Duties will include the following:

  • Checking attendance
  • Passing out and collecting materials
  • Monitoring participants’ activities
  • Helping with lights and/or sound
  • Managing props & costumes
  • Assisting the directors in their duties
  • Following directions given by the directors
  • Checking attendance at lunch time
  • Monitoring participants during their lunch time
  • Helping with set up and clean up for lunch
  • Following directions given by the directors

Professional Behavior: All helpers are expected to stay focused and on task for the entire time of duty. While on duty, helpers should not engage in off-task behavior, such as socializing, texting or talking on cell phones, horseplaying, misusing materials, or behaving in any manner considered by the directors, the producer, or by Center staff to be unprofessional. Helpers who engage in off-task or unprofessional behavior may be immediately released and will not be hired again to work for future BCS children’s workshops.

Compensation: Each helper will receive a pay check at the end of the week for which he/she works.

  • All-day helpers will receive a salary of $40.00 per day

Application & Selection: Anyone interested in working as a BCS Children’s Workshop Helper must submit a completed application. After the application deadline, the producer and directors will review the submitted applications and select personnel. The producer will contact all the applicants to inform them of their hiring status.
