This Pulitzer Prize-winning drama weaves a tale of a Cuban-American cigar factory in 1929 Florida where a handsome “lector” transports and inspires the workers who hand-roll cigars on the factory floor through the words of Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. Old traditions and new ways collide as the lives of the workers begin to parallel the novel leading to jealousy, love, and betrayal that signal the end of an era.
