
Students can anticipate:
- Primarily oil portraits, background support and content
- Delving into materials prep and how to apply techniques learned via oil painting to other subjects and mediums, such as pastels, watercolor, graphite, etc.
- Gaining an understanding of canvas, how to prepare the ground, all the way through positive ingredients that are compatible with everything it takes to create and finish a work of art
- Art theory will be painlessly introduced and hand-outs will be given over the course of the class, so as to not take away from class painting time
- Color theory and designing the canvas

Registration for the 8-week class is $110 for BAL members and $120 for non-members.
Suggested Supplies:
Medium Recipe – 1 part stand oil, 4-10 parts artist turpentine
Brushes- use what you already have, but they must be soft
Terry cloth towel
Spiral notebook
Paper palette
Canvas not smaller than 16×20, 22×28 is suggested
Goop
Neutral grey flat latex or acrylic water based paint
Sponge brush
Use any paints you already have. When you replace your existing tubes of paint, try this palette:
