Brazosport Planetarium to Host Tuesday & Saturday Shows in November

Brazosport Planetarium welcomes the public to attend the November show, “A Common Place in the Universe” on Tuesdays (11/9, 16, 23 & 30) and the 4th Friday (11/ 26) of the month at 7:00 PM at BASF Planetarium. This show allows viewers to travel from The Center to larger places: our cities, state, nation, Earth…and then out to our Solar System, our region, our Galaxy and beyond to the farthest places we know in the universe.

We’ve planned a family-friendly, space-filled day on Saturday, Nov. 6! Join us at 1:00 PM for the planetarium show “Dawn of the Space Age” before seeing the play, “Apollo: To the Moon” at 2:00 PM!

The following Saturday, we’re be bringing back family-favorite, “Perfect Little Planet”, at 1:00 PM, following Brazosport Symphony Orchestra’s “Animusicology” day, which runs from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

We can’t WAIT to see you this November at the planetarium!

BASF Planetarium’s October Show Features Jupiter & Saturn

Two amazing planets… Jupiter and Saturn…are the largest in our solar system. Similar in composition, they differ in almost every other way from one another. What exactly are these differences and how is each planet unique?

Come find out at the October shows, slated for Oct. 5, 12, 19, 22 & 26 at 7:00 PM. Tickets are free for planetarium members. Non-members pay $5 for adults or $3 for students. Don’t miss out…get your tickets ASAP!

BASF Planetarium Reopens with English & Spanish Shows in September

Closed during August for a cosmetic refresh, BASF Planetarium reopens this week with both English and Spanish shows in September! “Gran Astronomia” will kick off our bilingual month on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 7:00 PM. The Spanish show will be shown on Thursday evenings throughout the month, Sept. 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30.

“Big Astronomy” will be shown on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM on Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28.

Tickets are free for planetarium members and available on a “pay what you can” basis to the general public.

Spark Imaginations: 2021-2022 Season Announcement Party Slated for July 9

YOU’RE INVITED! We’re throwing a P-A-R-T-Y to celebrate the upcoming 2021-2022 season with Brazosport Art League, Brazosport Center Stages, Brazosport Museum of Natural Science, BASF Planetarium and Brazosport Symphony Orchestra! Festivities will include Brazosport Art League’s “Members Challenge” exhibit reception, BASF Planetarium activities, Brazosport Museum of Natural Science Open House, Brazosport Center Stages’ opening night performance of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and the Season Announcement Party after the musical!

BASF Planetarium Hosts “Hello Sunshine”

The BASF Planetarium is OPEN again and has three remaining shows in June for visitors to see! Come join us on Tuesday evenings (June 15, June 22 & June 29) at 7:00 PM for “Hello Sunshine.” This live narrated show is all about the Sun – it’s structure, explosive surface, patterns and spots.

Brazosport Art League, BASF Planetarium Officially Consolidate with The Center

Leadership from The Center for the Arts & Sciences, Brazosport Art League and BASF Planetarium gathered Wednesday evening, May 26, to share a champagne toast and sign paperwork signaling the official consolidation of both partner groups with The Center. Congratulations to everyone who made this exciting move possible!

The Art League and Planetarium join Brazosport Center Stages in the consolidation process, as the theater group officially became part of The Center in November 2019.

BASF Planetarium Set to Reopen May 11

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for! After being closed for more than a year due to COVID-19, the BASF Planetarium will REOPEN Tuesday, May 11 at 7:00 PM! The May show will be “Water on Mars” and will include a night sky tour and demonstration.

To allow for social distancing in the planetarium dome, we are allowing up to 4 pods of up to 8 people from the same household to attend each viewing. (If you reserve one pod, you may bring up to 8 people from the same household. The $20 admission fee is per pod, not per person.) Member pods are included with BASF memberships.

Masks must be worn at all times. Shows will be by reservation ONLY and visitors are asked to remain socially distanced. Reserve your pod online or swing by The Center Box Office during normal business hours (M-F, 9AM-5PM) or call 979-265-7661!
