Brazosport Center Stages’ first production of the 2021-2022 season, On Golden Pond by Ernest Thompson, will hit the Freeport LNG Theater stage September 3-5 and 10-12! Tickets are available now and can be purchased online or during The Center’s business hours (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday) by phone (979-265-7661) or in person at the Box Office.
Friday and Saturday performances start at 7:30 PM, while the curtain goes up for Sunday matinees at 2:30 PM.
Presented to great critical and popular acclaim on Broadway before being made into an award-winning film, On Golden Pond is a touching and warmly perceptive study of a lovable and spirited elderly couple. The generation gap between young and old and the difficulties of a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage combine in a play that effortlessly illustrates the heartbreaking, hilarious, and human moments of which life is made.
The cast features several Center Stages regulars and a few new faces, with current BCS chairman Craig Fritz in the director’s chair. Dennis Ulrich and Becky Gore-LaRoche take on the roles of married couple Norman and Ethel Thayer, while Carrie Baker plays their daughter, Chelsea. Bobby Britton, Jr. is Charlie Martin and Michael McIntosh and Aiden Guillen play father and son, Bill Ray and Billy Ray.

Special note from Director Craig Fritz: “I’d like to extend my sincerest appreciation to all of you for auditioning for our next production at Brazosport Center Stages! As the director of a show, it is truly a wonderful feeling to have the turnout we did for the most current auditions, but as a long-time member and supporter of this great organization, it is an even greater feeling to witness firsthand the interest and support from so many in our community. Casting a show is never an easy task; it is quite challenging and daunting, in fact! It is the first step, however, any director must take and I personally thank you for making it the challenge that it was!”

If you’re as ready to BE back on stage as we are to SEE you there, mark your calendars for upcoming auditions for “On Golden Pond” by Ernest Thompson, Brazosport Center Stages’ first production of the 2021-2022 season, on July 12 & 13! The production team is looking to cast six actors who can believably portray characters with ages ranging from 13 to 82.
Auditions will be held Monday and Tuesday, July 12 & 13 at 6:30 PM at The Center, and will consist of character and stage movement exercises, as well as readings from selected portions of the script itself. Additional instructions and selected cuttings may be picked up from the Center office beginning Friday, July 2.
Performances are scheduled for September 3-12 in the Freeport LNG Theater.
