Every year when December rolls around, local lovers of astronomy know what will be showing on the fulldome screen at BASF Planetarium. Season of Light has been a holiday staple at the planetarium for countless years (nobody remembers how long, in fact), screening throughout the month on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM and Fridays at 1:00 PM.

Celebrate the “Season of Light” with BASF Planetarium!

It’s the holiday season and time for the return of our ever-popular December planetarium show, Season of Light, at BASF Planetarium! See the show at 7:00 PM on Tuesdays (12/5, 12 & 19) and the 4th Friday (12/22), as well as at 1:00 PM every Friday in December (12/1, 8, 15, 22 & 29).

 

Visitors can also join us on Saturday afternoons (12/2, 9, 16 & 23) for a rotating slate of children’s books during Star & Space Story Time at 12:30 PM and rotating family-friendly planetarium shows at 1:00 PM.

“Season of Light” returns to BASF Planetarium in December

As it has each December for years and years, the family-favorite planetarium show Season of Light is returning to BASF Planetarium for the Christmas season. Visitors can see the popular show on Tuesdays (12/6, 13, 20 & 27) and the 4th Friday (12/23) at 7:00 PM in the planetarium throughout the month.

Join us for this nostalgic Christmas fulldome show celebrating customs of the season from various cultures and exploring the question, “If the star of Bethlehem was a natural phenomenon, what might it have been?” Season of Light is wonderful for the entire family and includes a beautiful tour of the winter circle of constellations.

Tickets are FREE to Brazosport Planetarium members. Non-member tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children. Get tickets now!

Season of Light will ALSO be shown at 11:30 AM on Monday, December 19 as part of The Center’s week of holiday activities, A Cure for the Christmas Chaos. Monday’s activities at the planetarium will run from 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM and include the planetarium show, space cookie decorating and astronomy crafts. Get tickets for this special event!

Brazosport Planetarium’s “Season of Light” featured in The Facts

The Facts featured Brazosport Planetarium’s perennial holiday favorite, “Season of Light”, in the Friday, November 26 edition. The article includes interviews with planetarium director Judi James and planetarium chair Diane Hill.

“Season of Light” will run throughout December at BASF Planetarium on Tuesdays (12/7, 14, 21 & 28) at 7:00 PM and on Saturdays, Dec. 4 and 11 at 1:00 PM.
