“This is a really able cast of both Center veterans and newcomers,” James says. “I’m looking forward to the creative process. What is great about theater is that you don’t have to have all the ideas or answers. It’s about collaboration.”
As for “The Lion in Winter”, James believes even a modern audience will connect with the story set in the 12th century.
“It’s a humorous look at the lives and reigns of the first Plantagenet kings and royal family…their foibles, fights and relationships,” she explains. “It’s a story based in history and an extremely studied part of history at that. It’s fast-moving and follows the true story of the family in very modern language.
“These are certainly some of the most remarkable characters of the early medieval times. They fight and court their way throughout the story, which is really about their love, passions and conflicts.”
