Brazosport Center Stages leadership made the decision on Thursday, July 13 to cancel the final weekend of “The Sound of Music” performances due to illness within the cast, crew and orchestra.
The Facts reported the show’s closure in today’s (7/14) edition and interviewed director Craig Fritz about the decision.
Several principal members of the cast, crew and orchestra in Brazosport Center Stages’ production of The Sound of Music have been affected by illness.
As a result, the decision has been made to cancel the remaining four performances slated for this weekend, July 13-16. Unfortunately, the show cannot be rescheduled due to the unavailability of key members of the cast and crew.
Ticket holders may mail us at thecenter@bcfas.org to request a refund. Flex tickets redeemed for “The Sound of Music” will be available for use for the 2023-2024 season.
Non-refunded tickets will be converted into a donation to Brazosport Center Stages.

CAST NEEDS: Director Judi James is looking for a company of actors, singers and dancers to bring this summer’s production of The Sound of Music to life. The cast list includes 6 male and 10 female roles, along with the 7 von Trapp children, whose ages range between 7-17. Teen & adult actors, singers and dancers are needed to complete the cast.
In this show, the ethnicity of the characters is not pivotal to the plot. BCS desires to provide theatrical/cultural experiences for our audiences and cast members that are reflective of the community that we serve.
Come with a song prepared, preferably one from the show. If you plan to sing a song that is NOT from The Sound of Music, please bring sheet music. You will also be asked to dance (closed-toed shoes, please) as well as read dialogue. Sides will be available at the Center Stages office after May 3. As always, backstage and technical crews are needed.
