The Facts features Dia de los Muertos kickoff event

The Center for the Arts & Sciences teamed up with the Brazoria County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and other local organizations this fall to celebrate Dia de los Muertos in the community during the month of October. The chamber held a kickoff reception at The Center on Friday, October 6 to launch the month’s activities, including performances by St. Jerome Catholic Church ballet folklorico dancers and Mariachi Imperio Nuevo group from Houston.

The Center’s juried art exhibition, “Los Vivos y Los Muertos”, also opened during the reception. The exhibit features 32 pieces of original art from 22 artists.

A reporter from The Facts attended the reception and a feature about the event was published the following week (10/11), Party for the dead: Brazosport Center for the Arts kickoff event ushers in monthlong celebration.

Mike Fulton of TriCoast Photos was also at the event and The Facts published a gallery of photos of the ballet folklorico dancers. See the photos online.
