Annual Teen Guild Drama Workshop featured in The Facts

After two weeks of hard work, both on stage and backstage, the group of 30+ campers in Brazosport Center Stages’ Gerrard Teen Guild Workshop is ready to perform! Check out the story in today’s edition of The Facts, “Annual workshop teaches teens every part of theater production: Teen Guild searches for lost children”, and hear from director Kerry Cormier and the campers about what it takes to put on the annual production.

 

Performances are Friday, June 16 at 5:00 PM and Saturday, June 17 at 2:30 PM. Admission is a donation of canned food and/or non-perishable items to benefit The Food Basket food bank in Clute.

BASF Planetarium’s new Science Café program previewed in The Facts

The Facts published a preview of BASF Planetarium’s new Science Café program in today’s newspaper, “Planetarium reaches for new audience: Science Café will have adults seeing stars in a new way”. Bruce Good Memorial Scholarship Show featured in The Facts

This year’s Bruce Good Memorial Scholarship Show in the Brazosport Art League gallery may have only lasted a week, but it made a big impact on the participating high school seniors, especially the three who were awarded scholarships!

This year’s winners were:

  • First place – $2,500: Nathaniel Spates
  • Second place – $2,000: Minnie Tran
  • Third place – $1,500: Laura Bond

The Facts features Penguin Project production of “The Wizard of Oz”

After four months of rehearsals, Brazosport Center Stages’ Penguin Project production of The Wizard of Oz (youth edition) is about to hit the stage this weekend, May 5-7! The Facts features Brazosport Art League’s People’s Choice exhibit

Brazosport Art League’s People’s Choice exhibit allows the public to vote for their two favorite pieces of art during the annual show. Open since late March, the exhibit is entering the home stretch, with voting closing this Thursday, April 27.

The Facts published a feature in this weekend’s (4/22) edition, highlighting the show and the public’s role in selecting the winners, who will be named at a reception on Friday, April 28 in the gallery. The exhibit officially closes on Sunday, April 30.

Brazosport Center Stages’ “Anna in the Tropics” featured in The Facts

The Facts published two articles about Brazosport Center Stages’ upcoming production of “Anna in the Tropics” in today’s (4/12) edition. The front page feature, “Audiences will get wrapped up in story of Cuban cigar makers”, includes interviews with director Bobby Britton Jr. and the cast, as well as photos of a recent rehearsal.

The Facts features BASF Planetarium’s Spring Astronomy Day

BASF Planetarium’s Spring Astronomy Day and family-friendly Saturday planetarium show were a hit this weekend, with a sold-out 1:00 PM planetarium show and a full house for the day’s free activities. The planetarium also played host to local space-lover and mom-to-be Tyra Patterson’s gender reveal party during the afternoon packed with activities. (She’s having a girl, by the way!)
