Brazosport Art League features artist Adalia Maudlin in “Retrospective” exhibit

A new exhibit, Retrospective by local artist Adalia Maudlin, opens this week in Brazosport Art League gallery! See her lovely paintings using various mediums now through Saturday, August 6. Join Adalia, friends & family, and BAL members at the show’s Opening Reception, Friday, July 8 from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM in the gallery.

 

ABOUT THE ARTIST:  Adalia has lived in the Brazosport area since 1963. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Stephen F Austin University and is a retired school teacher. Adalia is married to Valroy Maudlin and they have two children and one grandchild. Drawing has always been a passion, as well as watercolor, oil and other mediums. The exhibit is a retrospective look at her art.

 

Tickets to visit the gallery are free, but reservations are required and can be made in advance online or when you arrive. Hours of operation are 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday.

The Facts features Brazosport Art League quilt exhibit

The Facts featured Brazosport Art League’s new exhibit, Plantation Quilt Guild Summer Show, in today’s (6/8) newspaper. The show includes handmade quilts created by members of the guild and runs from this week through Saturday, July 2.

Brazosport Art League opens new exhibit featuring quilts

Brazosport Art League opened its new exhibit, “Plantation Quilt Guild Summer Show”, featuring quilts made by members of the guild in the gallery this week. The show includes quilts of several sizes in widely different patterns, colors and themes.

 

The exhibit will run from this week through Saturday, July 2. Tickets to the gallery are free, but reservations are required and can be made when you arrive or in advance online. Hours of operation are 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday.

Brazosport Art League “People’s Choice” Exhibit Opens April 12

Brazosport Art League’s always-popular People’s Choice show is kicking off this week in the gallery, featuring artwork in various mediums by BAL members. The exhibit runs Tuesday, April 12 through Saturday, May 7, so make plans to stop by in the next month to vote on your two favorite pieces of art!

 

Voting is open through April 29. BAL is also hosting a reception that day from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM to celebrate the show and announce this year’s winners.

The Facts previews Brazosport Art League’s “People’s Choice” exhibit

The Facts featured Brazosport Art League’s upcoming People’s Choice exhibit in the weekend edition (4/9) of the paper in “People’s Choice returns at Brazosport Art League Gallery”. An annual show featuring art by BAL members in various mediums, this year’s exhibit opens Tuesday, April 12 and runs through Saturday, May 7.

Brazosport Art League scholarship winner featured in The Facts

One senior from Brazosport Christian School and six from Brazoswood High School submitted their art for inclusion in this year’s Brazosport Art League Bruce Good Scholarship Show, which takes place every spring. BHS senior Aretzie Baeza was selected as the winner of the 2022 scholarship, a $1,000 award given by the league on Sunday, April 3 at the closing reception.

The Facts interviewed BAL chair Ron White, Brazoswood art teacher Emily Espeche and Baeza for the story, which was published on The Facts’ website today (4/4).

Brazosport Art League offers watercolor, oil painting classes in April

If you’ve ever wanted to learn to paint (or improve what you can already do), there are TWO opportunities coming up at Brazosport Art League in April!
 
Watercolor Workshop with Robert Ruhmann, focusing on seascapes and landscapes, will meet weekly on Tuesdays from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, starting April 5. Oil Painting Workshop with Sherry Shelton focuses primarily on landscapes and portraiture and meets weekly on Thursdays from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM.

 

Both classes meet in the Brazosport Art League studio. Monthly tuition is $60 for Art League members and $75 for non-members. Sign up ASAP!

Brazosport Art League’s “Bruce Good Scholarship Show” featured in The Facts

Brazosport Art League’s current exhibit, the Bruce Good Scholarship Show, is featured on the front page of today’s (3/30) newspaper. The Facts interviewed BAL’s Teen Studio Time instructors Linda Strickland and Mark Cameron for the article, “Art students paint for college”. The duo talked about the importance of the exhibit and the role it plays in creating a space for high school art students.

The two-week exhibit closes this week, but can be seen today through Saturday, April 2, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. A closing reception and scholarship award ceremony will take place on Sunday, April 3 at 2:00 PM in the gallery.

Brazosport Art League hosts local 12th grade artists in Bruce Good Scholarship Show

Brazoswood High School and homeschool seniors are displaying their art for the 16th year in a row in Brazosport Art League gallery during the Bruce Good Scholarship Show, which opens Tuesday, March 22. Exclusively featuring art by 12th grade students, the two-week exhibit allows the young artists to display the work that best represents their artistic journeys and compete for a $1,000 scholarship.

Through the duration of the show, Brazosport Art League members vote to select the recipient of the Bruce Good Scholarship, a memorial award named after the longtime Brazosport High School art teacher and ceramist. One student will be honored with the scholarship at the exhibit’s closing reception, slated for Sunday, April 3 from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM.

Don’t miss out on seeing the art of these talented students! The exhibit runs through Saturday, April 2.
