Brazosport Museum of Natural Science’s Teddy Bear Picnic featured in The Facts

Brazosport Museum of Natural Science’s volunteers had a BEAR-y good time with visitors at Teddy Bear Picnic on Saturday, September 16! Families brought their own teddy bears and picnic lunches, participated in a teddy bear parade and met the museum’s new black bear in the Hall of Wildlife, named Moon.

The Facts published a feature on the front page of today’s (9/19) edition, “MOON BEAMS: Kids picnic around new addition to museum’s Hall of Animals”, including several photos of museum visitors.

The Facts previews Brazosport Museum of Natural Science’s upcoming Teddy Bear Picnic

Brazosport Museum of Natural Science is celebrating the arrival of a new addition to its Hall of Wildlife Collection, an as-yet-unnamed black bear, with a Teddy Bear Picnic, slated for Saturday, September 16 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

Members of the community are invited to bring their own teddy bears, pack a picnic and meet the new bear, as well as find out it’s name, selected from suggestions offered by museum visitors.

On Saturday, September 16, children and adults are invited to bring their favorite teddy bear to the event, join in a teddy bear parade AND find out what our new bear’s name will be! Families are welcome to pack a blanket and a picnic to enjoy in the museum or outside on The Center’s grounds (weather permitting).

Dino Day Dance Party

Brazosport Museum of Natural Science is throwing a Dino Day Dance Party on Saturday, August 5 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM! Join us for a dance party with a DJ, drinks & snacks, games and prizes for the best dressed dinosaur and the judges’ favorite dino t-shirts!

Get ready to dance, sing along to the fun dinosaur-themed songs and have a prehistorically good time!

The Facts publishes online photo gallery of Shark Week exhibit opening

Brazosport Museum of Natural Science’s Shark Week events wrapped up on Sunday afternoon (7/16) with a presentation by Dr. Richard Fugler and a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of a new shark exhibit in the museum. The local oral surgeon and outdoor enthusiast talked about growing up in the area and his lifelong fascination with all fish sporting sharp teeth. His donation of dozens of shark jaws are featured in a new exhibit in the museum.

Join Brazosport Museum of Natural Science for some “fin”-tastic Shark Week activities!

Make plans to join Brazosport Museum of Natural Science for Shark Week events, July 15 & 16!

 

On Saturday, July 15, stop the museum between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM for Shark Week crafts and science experiments for kids! This event is FREE, but an RSVP is requested!

 

On Sunday, July 16, join us for a FREE presentation on sharks by Dr. Richard Fugler at 5:00 PM. We will also be hosting a ribbon cutting for the new exhibit of shark jaws in the museum.

 

Richard C. Fugler D.D.S, M.D. was born and raised in Texas. He developed a love for the outdoors and nature at an early age. A fascination with sharks has led him on many adventures near and far. His journeys have given him a spirit of conservation and preservation.

The Facts features final session of Mondays at the Museum

We wrapped up the third and final session of Brazosport Museum of Natural Science‘s Summer at The Center program for 4 to 6-year olds, Mondays at the Museum, yesterday with “Mad Matter”!

BMNS New Exhibit Opening: Velasco & Quintana

Make plans to visit Brazosport Museum of Natural Science on Sunday, June 25 to celebrate the opening of new archaeology exhibit, “Velasco & Quintana: A Glimpse Into 19th Century Texas”! Please join us at 3:00 PM for a short program, ribbon cutting and refreshments.

 

The exhibit, featuring artifacts recovered from the 19th century town sites of Velasco and Quintana, will reside in the museum’s Raymond Walley Hall of Archaeology.
