On Sale NOW: Tickets for Brazosport Symphony Orchestra’s “Bella Italia!”

Tickets for Brazosport Symphony Orchestra’s first concert of the 2021-2022 season, Bella Italia! are on sale now! The concert is slated for 7:30 PM on Saturday, October 2 at The Clarion on the campus of Brazosport College, just across the parking lot from The Center.

The concert features the following:

* Symphony No. 4, commonly known as the Italian, composer: Felix Mendelssohn

* Sgombra é la Sacra From Italian opera Norma, composer: Selva Vincenzo Bellini 

Abby Powell, soloist 

* Italian Folk Festival (Traditional) arr. Jack Bullock 

* Lindy Suite, by Brandon Walker – Winner 2020 BSO Composition Contest 

Mr. Walker’s composition was selected from over 60 entrants from across the world as the winner of our annual Composition Contest. His winning composition, “Lindy Suite”, is a musical portrayal of the adventures of a young child.​

* Cinema Paradiso (Main Theme), composer: Ennio Morricone 

* Italian in Algiers, composer: Gioachino Rossini

Members of Brazosport Symphony Orchestra have been planning their 2nd annual virtual fundraiser, “DOWNBEAT! Start the Music” for several months. The week of the three-day event has finally arrived, and The Facts featured the fundraiser in Wednesday’s (9/8) edition with “Help Brazosport Symphony Orchestra ‘start the music’ with virtual fundraiser” on the front page!

Brazosport Symphony Orchestra Virtual Fundraiser Slated for Sept. 9-11

Join Brazosport Symphony Orchestra on September 9-11 for the 2nd annual, amazing, magnificent, musical “DOWNBEAT! START THE MUSIC” online fundraising event!

BSO’s “DOWNBEAT! START THE MUSIC” virtual fundraiser will feature a silent auction filled with a variety of unique and interesting items, a raffle (top prize is a top hat containing over $1000 in gift cards), exciting musical performances from the BSO and the new online BSO Market! You will have the opportunity to bid on our huge selection of auction items, vote for your favorite section of the orchestra, sponsor the Conductor and Concertmaster and shop at the BSO market, which will include links to our vendors’ websites where you can get a jump on your Christmas shopping!

Most importantly, your participation and support will help ensure that our beloved community orchestra will have the necessary funds to continue its work providing cultural, educational and musical activities in our community.

Spark Imaginations: 2021-2022 Season Announcement Party Slated for July 9

YOU’RE INVITED! We’re throwing a P-A-R-T-Y to celebrate the upcoming 2021-2022 season with Brazosport Art League, Brazosport Center Stages, Brazosport Museum of Natural Science, BASF Planetarium and Brazosport Symphony Orchestra! RSVP to join us for our “Spark Imaginations” Season Announcement Party and full evening of activities on Friday, July 9.

Festivities will include Brazosport Art League’s “Members Challenge” exhibit reception, BASF Planetarium activities, Brazosport Museum of Natural Science Open House, Brazosport Center Stages’ opening night performance of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and the Season Announcement Party after the musical!

Whit Phillips Memorial Young Artist Competition Winners Featured in The Facts

The Facts recently published a feature story about the student musicians who played with Brazosport Symphony Orchestra in its final concert of the 2020-2021 season on May 15. Nine young artists were selected as winners of the 2020 Whit Phillips Memorial Young Artist Competition and the following five played with the Symphony during the concert: violist Sandhya Mahesh, oboist Zen Smith, and pianists Grayson and Naomi Vernor and Hans Aggarwal.

Tickets On Sale for Final BSO Concert of the Season

Tickets are available now for Brazosport Symphony Orchestra’s last concert of the 2020-2021 season, “Surprise and Awe,” slated for Saturday, May 15 at 7:30 PM at The Clarion. Winners of the 2020 Whit Phillips Memorial Young Artists Competition will be featured, as well as Franz Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 94, “Surprise Symphony”.
