The Facts features Elizabethan Madrigal Feast auditions

The Elizabethan Madrigal Feast is back after a four-year hiatus (courtesy of COVID-19) and auditions are being held August 28-30 at The Center. Director Judi James is looking for actors, singers, dancers and instrumentalists to fill roles in the Renaissance-style holiday production.

The Facts attended the Sunday afternoon audition to interview participants and shoot a few photos. A web-only feature was published on Monday, followed by a story on the front page of the paper on Tuesday.

Brazosport Museum of Natural Science’s Dino Day featured in The Facts

More than 1,100 people attended Brazosport Museum of Natural Science’s Dino Day on Saturday, August 6 at Lake Jackson Civic Center. Co-sponsored by the City of Lake Jackson, the event featured Dinosaur George and his traveling prehistoric museum and dino-themed crafts.

Before the decision was made to cancel the final day and a half of Brazosport Center Stages’ drama camp last week (due to a COVID spike amongst campers), a reporter from The Facts came out to take a few photos and interview participants. The Facts features Brazosport Center Stages’ summer musical, Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast”

With opening night just two days away, The Facts featured Brazosport Center Stages’ summer musical, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, on the front page of today’s (7/6) edition. The article, Fairytale Beginning: Center Stages’ production of beloved “Beauty and the Beast” opens Friday, includes photos from a recent rehearsal and interviews with director David Hill and several members of the cast.

Summer music theater workshops featured in The Facts

Longtime volunteers and brand new theater-loving kids are featured on the front page of today’s (6/30) issue of The Facts. The article includes interviews with instructors Hope Shiver and Becky Gore-LaRoche, who have been leading Brazosport Center Stages’ Summer at The Center music theater workshops for nearly three decades together.

 

The duo explains how they utilize flexible productions to fit the number of participants and the varying number of boy and girls who participate each summer, as well as their philosophy about giving every child a “starring role” on stage.

Youth Shakespeare Workshop featured in The Facts

Local 9 to 13-year olds spent yesterday morning at a Youth Shakespeare Workshop, led by The Center’s executive director Wes Copeland and hosted by Lake Jackson Historical museum. The workshop is featured on the front page of today’s (6/10) issue of The Facts.

Designed to offer a more hands-on introduction to the Bard than a traditional classroom setting, Copeland’s three-hour workshop provided kids with Shakespeare’s history and biography, background on his contributions to literature and the stage, and plenty of activities.

The Facts features Brazosport Art League quilt exhibit

The Facts featured Brazosport Art League’s new exhibit, Plantation Quilt Guild Summer Show, in today’s (6/8) newspaper. The show includes handmade quilts created by members of the guild and runs from this week through Saturday, July 2.
