The Facts previews Brazosport Art League’s “People’s Choice” exhibit

An annual show featuring art by BAL members in various mediums, this year’s exhibit opens Tuesday, April 12 and runs through Saturday, May 7.

Family Science Series event “Cool Chemistry” featured in The Facts

The fourth and final event in The Center’s 2021-2022 Family Science Series, Cool Chemistry, is featured in today’s newspaper (4/8) in the Entertainment Extra section. The first-ever Family Science Series aims to increase the number of science-related events offered to the community and welcome new and previous visitors to The Center.

Cool Chemistry is scheduled for Saturday, April 9 at 2:00 PM in the Dow Arena Theater.

Reporter Avery White spoke with communications manager Summer Morgan about both the series and the Cool Chemistry event coming up on Saturday.

“We really wanted to focus on science and we’ve found that people have really enjoyed it,” Morgan said. “I’m excited about this one. We’re just trying to kind of reach different areas of the population, kids especially. They’re interested in all kinds of different things, and so we’re trying to find something that will spark imaginations of these different kids, whether it’s space or ocean creatures or chemistry.”

Brazosport Art League’s “Bruce Good Scholarship Show” featured in The Facts

Brazosport Art League’s current exhibit, the Bruce Good Scholarship Show, is featured on the front page of today’s (3/30) newspaper. The Facts interviewed BAL’s Teen Studio Time instructors Linda Strickland and Mark Cameron for the article, “Art students paint for college”. The duo talked about the importance of the exhibit and the role it plays in creating a space for high school art students.

The two-week exhibit closes this week, but can be seen today through Saturday, April 2, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. A closing reception and scholarship award ceremony will take place on Sunday, April 3 at 2:00 PM in the gallery.

The Facts features new Brazosport Art League exhibit, “Animalia: Beyond the Jungle”

The Facts featured Brazosport Art League’s newest gallery exhibit, “Animalia: Beyond the Jungle”, and the show’s contributing artists Doug Hiser and Jim Phillips in Wednesday’s (2/23) paper. The article, “Long-time friends collaborate on art show”, includes interviews with both artists about their work and several photos from the artists’ opening week reception, held last Friday, February 18.

Brazosport Symphony Orchestra’s “Playing with Fire!” concert featured in The Facts

Brazosport Symphony Orchestra’s fourth concert of the 2021-2022 season, “Playing with Fire!”, was recently featured in The Facts before the decision was made to postpone it due to facility closures at Brazosport College and The Clarion. The online article has been updated to reflect the new event date.

Hear from BSO conductor Brian Casey and president Paula Matzke about the upcoming concert, including the 2022 Composition Contest winner and the fire-themed music to be featured, such as the Concert Suite from “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”.

The Facts features Brazosport Center Stages’ “A Rock’s Story”

Opening night of Brazosport Center Stages’ “A Rock’s Story” by local playwright Davis Gordon Gilbert was front page news as The Facts featured the production in today’s (2/10) paper. The world premiere of Center Stages’ season extra production will run for four days, Thursday, February 10 through Sunday, February 13.

The feature, “World premiere play on cultural phenomena opens tonight at Center: Playwright offers piece on the rock”, includes background on how Gilbert came to write the play, as well as perspective from actor Jackson Kimbrough, who plays the role of Pet Rock inventor Gary Dahl, and several photos of the cast in rehearsals.

Brazosport Planetarium’s February programs featured in The Facts

The Facts featured Brazosport Planetarium’s upcoming February programs on the front page of today’s (2/2) newspaper. The write-up includes information about the new February show, “Wonderful Women: Women Enter Astronomy”, shown every Tuesday evening and the 4th Friday of the month in BASF Planetarium.

The Facts features BISD’s art show in Brazosport Art League gallery

The Facts published a feature on Brazosport ISD’s student rodeo art competition in today’s (1/7) newspaper. The weeklong exhibit in the Brazosport Art League gallery includes art from BISD students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The art was evaluated by judges from Clear Creek ISD to determine which student artists will move on to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo art competition.
